Vacation `08: Jamestown

Jamestown was our second stop. It was very cool. My mom said she'd been there once when she was a kid, and it was just ruins. But now they've built it back up and recreated the village the way it would have been in 1607, plus the Indian village and one of the ships. It was very cool.

Matthew, trying on one of the helmets.

Here is Abby, looking out of one of the windows in a settler's cabin. I wish I had a picture of Joshua, but we had some issues. He kept getting lost. *sigh*
The ship was very neat. It gave you a real feel for what it must have been like being crammed in such a small space for (how many?) months on end. And I complain about airplanes.
Abby just love being on the ship. She was very disappointed when we had to leave. I think having a history buff as a sister is starting to take effect on her. I am training her up well. :)

Yeah, so like, everywhere we went there were cannons. I loved taking pictures of them.
