A New Post

This blog has been boring lately. It is def. time for a nothing post.
Sooo...to begin with, we had our girls' lock-in on Tuesday. We pretty much had an amazing time. I wish I had taken more pictures, but I was too busy being slaphappy. :( So for pictures, check out Viv's blog. Our time was pretty uneventful...unless you count the fire alarm going off, the bounce-house deflating with us inside, and the fact that we had to use an origami-paper-plate as a spatula for the pancakes. Yup. Uh-huh.
So far, this isn't really a nothing post. Because I'm writing about something. In fact, I'm always writing about something, because even if I'm writing about nothing its something. Hmm. Even nothing is something. I am feeling very philosophical today. :)
Oh yeah! I almost forgot...today is a Mr. Smith day. :D I'm sure his philosophical reflections shall be a great asset to this nothingness. (Though, alas, I do not have a picture to post with it today. The reason has to do with my poor, sad computor.)
Reflections from the life and times of Mr. Smith. Star date 5267. Captain’s log, Captain Smith recording. Today I was watching my favorite series on TV, Star Trek. Suddenly I felt compelled to be beamed up. I whipped out my communicator (my wallet) and spoke to it: Beam me up, Scotty. A strange thing happened. Nothing. Except for, all my money fell out. My dog chewed up my money. I decided to go see how my neighbor’s cat was doing. And suddenly I realized, I’d forgotten to let it back in. (Refer to above above entry.) I, Mr. Smith, felt compelled to see the world. To travel to strange places, and seek out new life and new civilizations. To boldly go where no bum has gone before. Then suddenly I realized, there are bums everywhere. I decided to just stick with going places where I have never gone before. Ah, life. Doesn’t it make you reflect? Life is so simple.
Thus ends this week’s reflections. And then my mirror image disappeared.
Wow. I was just realizing how much "Mr. Smith" and "Nothing Posts" resemble one another. Both are extremely random. Benjamin, dear, as much as this might frighten you, I think our minds are very much alike. And don't worry...I'm sure this scares me as much as it scares you.
*ahem*...moving on...
So! Last night we went to the H's. We girls watched the movie Emma. I know many males judge this movie and immediatly put it in the "M" catagory. (You know: mushy, matchmaker, melodrama.) But the problem is, they do this without watching it. Emma is a unique heroine. Why, you ask? Because she isn't perfect! Like normal people, she has her faults, and this in turn makes her story endearing because we can relate. And its not one of those annoying story lines where its like "girl sees guy. Girl can't stop thinking about guy even though she's only set eyes on him once." Or, another favorite: "Girl likes guy, but for-some-weird-reason she acts like she hates him and this is the entire story." Even though I bemoan the fact that Mr. Knightley is sixteen years older than Emma, they have a very sweet, straightforward relationship before they fall in love.
As for guys in movies...I have a very hard time with them. Meaning, I am extremely critical. For example: Mr. Elton has big teeth, Frank Churchill has bad hair, Mr. Knightley is too short, John Thornton's nose is too long, Colonel Brandon is too old, Edward Ferris is too plain, and Mr. Darcy (in the 1995 BBC version) is just plain greasy. (And furthermore, I know, that when Jane Austin wrote Pride and Prejudice, she did not mean Mr. Darcy to have curly hair.) I guess the Mr. Darcy in the newest version is pretty much perfect, except that his sideburns are a little too big.
Maybe I'll never marry.
Oh dear. This is getting to be a very long nothing post. I'd better go now...
